Oblon, Spivak Wins Patent Infringement Case; Jury Awards $43.7 Million in Damages
For Immediate Release (August 10, 2005) Alexandria, Va. – A jury in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Tennessee in Greeneville has awarded $43.7 million to Asahi Glass Company, Ltd., a Japanese glass manufacturer, and its subsidiary AFG Industries, Inc., a U.S. glass manufacturer, due to patent infringement by Cardinal IG Co., Inc. Asahi and AFG are clients of Oblon, Spivak, McClelland, Maier & Neustadt, P.C.

Oblon, Spivak to Argue Three CAFC Cases In One Week
Alexandria, Va. - At a time when patent litigation is greater than ever, attorneys at one intellectual property law firm are busier than usual, arguing three cases before the U.S. Court Of Appeals for the Federal Circuit (CAFC) in just one week. Patent litigators at Oblon, Spivak, McClelland, Maier & Neustadt, P.C., are scheduled to argue these cases during August 4-7. "It is extremely unusual to have so many cases before the Appeals Court that three arguments get scheduled in one week. It truly demonstrates how busy our litigators are and have been. Oblon, Spivak Wins Six-Patent Ohio Lawsuits For French Steel Maker Usinor S.A. - Summary Judgment Motions Granted; Court Rules For Usinor On All Asserted Patents
On July 30, 2002, U.S. Federal District Court Judge Susan J. Dlott granted three summary judgment motions filed by the Oblon, Spivak Law Firm on behalf of its client, French steel maker Usinor S.A., that completely defeats all of the infringement contentions of AK Steel Corporation of Middletown, Ohio, in two separate patent infringement lawsuits brought by AK Steel and its predecessor, Armco, Inc.
Toshiba Corporation v. Loral Fairchild Corporation
On Thursday, December 21, 2001, a jury in the Eastern District of New York sitting in Brooklyn found in favor of Toshiba Corporation in a patent infringement suit brought against Toshiba by Loral Fairchild Corporation. The jury found that Toshiba had not infringed Loral's patent 3,931,674 and that the claim of the patent which was asserted against Toshiba was invalid for obviousness. Toshiba was represented by Arthur Neustadt, Richard Kelly and Carl Schlier of Oblon, Spivak, McClelland, Maier & Neustadt, P.C. of Arlington, Virginia.
