We are pleased to announce that the firm and several of the firm’s attorneys have been highly ranked in the 2023 edition of IAM Patent 1000: The World’s Leading Patent Professionals.
The IAM Patent 1000 is highly regarded as a top “go-to” resource for those seeking to identify world-class, private practice patent counsel and leading expert witnesses in the United States. Oblon was recognized at the bronze level in the United States DC metro area category, and also was recognized for international and Japan.
The IAM Patent 1000 identifies Oblon as “home to a deep bench of technical specialists who can advise on almost any patent matter,” with an office in Tokyo, Japan, that “attracts top companies such as Toyota, Sony, Fuji Corp and Toshiba.”
The firm’s attorneys who are recommended in the 2023 IAM Patent 1000 are as follows:
David M. Longo, Ph.D., partner in the Electrical, Mechanical and Design practice groups, and chair of the Prosecution Management Committee. The IAM Patent 1000 identifies Longo as a “material science and engineering Ph.D., who combines his technical and legal expertise to support his clientele, including The Swatch Group and Philip Morris International.”
Marina I. Miller, Ph.D., partner in the Chemical Patent Prosecution group. The IAM Patent 1000 describes Miller as “a molecular biology and biochemistry specialist who provides strategic advice on patent prosecution and portfolio management.”
Yuki Onoe, partner, head of the Tokyo office, co-head of the Chemical Practice Group and member of the Life Sciences and Litigation practice groups. The IAM Patent 1000 profiles Onoe as “skilled in life sciences and cutting-edge technologies such as machine learning and AI” and “known for her incisive pre-litigation advice, especially for pharmaceutical companies.”
Philippe J.C. Signore, Ph.D., partner in the Electrical and Mechanical Patent Prosecution group, Patent Litigation group, and Counseling and Strategic Advice group. The IAM Patent 1000 describes Signore as representing “some of the world’s leading companies and is a renowned speaker on U.S. patent law, lecturing across North America, Asia and Europe.”
The IAM Patent 1000 rankings were determined through extensive research including 1,800 interviews with attorneys at law, patent attorneys and in-house counsel to gather market intelligence on the leading players in the field. Evaluations are based on factors such as depth of knowledge, market presence, and the level of work on which firms and attorneys are typically instructed, as well as positive peer and client feedback.
