Xiaohua (Joyce) Guo, Ph.D. is an associate in the firm’s Electrical and Mechanical Patent Prosecution Practice Group. Her practice focuses on patent preparation and prosecution for domestic and international clients. Dr. Guo works primarily in the electrical, software, and mechanical arts.

Prior to attending law school, Dr. Guo practiced Chinese patent law for eight years at a law firm based in Beijing, China, representing clients in all aspects of patent prosecution before China Patent Office and patent reexamination and invalidation proceedings before the Patent Reexamination Board. Her drafting and prosecution experience was directed to various technologies, including electric vehicles, electric motors, telecommunications, semiconductors, integrated circuits, electronic circuits, power transmission/distribution systems, medical apparatus, and consumer electronics.

Before joining the firm, Dr. Guo was an associate at the Northern Virginia office of a general practice law firm. While there, her work focused on telecommunications, online advertising, search engines, cybersecurity, database, artificial intelligence, computer-assisted surgery, and medical equipment.
