On July 31, 2019, the USPTO announced on its Director's Forum blog the issuance of a notice of proposed rulemaking (NPRM) to adjust certain patent fees as authorized by the AIA. A 60-day public comment period, ending on September 30, 2019, is now open. The proposed adjustments – which number nearly 200 and include filing, search, examination, maintenance, and trial and appeal fees, for example – are summarized in a Table on the USPTO's Fee Setting and Adjusting webpage.
The Oblon Aisin Seiki litigation team recently prevailed in the on-going Aisin Seiki ITC litigation. The notice of final determination was issued by the ITC on July 19, 2019 and confirmed a finding of no violation of Section 337 in favor of Oblon client, Aisin Seiki and their customers, Toyota and Honda.
