Lucas Koziol is a patent agent in the firm’s Chemical Patent Prosecution group where he focuses on patent drafting and prosecution for domestic and international clients. He has over 15 years scientific experience in computational physical chemistry, materials science, and organic chemistry.

Prior to joining Oblon, Dr. Koziol worked at a major energy company on technical projects surrounding gas storage and separation, zeolite design, and catalysis. He also collaborated with university groups to develop and apply machine-learning methods to chemical simulations.

Dr. Koziol completed his post-doc at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, where he performed computational research on biomimetic catalysts for carbon capture and high-throughput pharmaceutical drug screening. While obtaining his graduate degree, he studied the electronic structure and spectroscopy of hydrocarbon radicals. He has published twenty-five papers in peer-reviewed scientific journals.
