Joint Symposium on US and European Patent Practice - Important Aspects for Practitioners
Schedule :
At the 2026 joint symposium, we will together examine selected current aspects of protecting innovations in the U.S. and in Europe considering both pre- and post-grant perspectives.
While similarities exist, applicants for U.S. and European patents need to be aware of the peculiarities and most recent developments in each system in order to achieve the best results. Thus, please join us to learn about recent developments and current aspects of IP practice in the U.S. and Europe.
In particular, the symposium will address the following important topics for today’s practitioners:
- Drafting AI applications for the U.S. - written support and other guidance
- Recent EPO Case Law on AI-Related Inventions and Key Considerations for drafting AI-Related applications
- Recent PTO developments in the U.S. – latest news and surprises
- Update from the Unified Patent Court – selected case law
- U.S. claim construction – always a matter of interpretation
- EPO claim interpretation after G 1/24 – paving the way to next referral
Drinks and hors d’oeuvres will be provided at a casual reception following the symposium.
