Joint Symposium on European and U.S. Patent Practice: Important Aspects for Practitioners
In this joint symposium, the Oblon and Maiwald firms will together examine selected fundamental and current aspects of protecting innovations in the U.S. and in Europe considering both pre- and post-grant perspectives.
While similarities exist, applicants for European and U.S. patents need to be aware of the peculiarities and most recent developments in each system in order to achieve the best results. Thus, please join us to learn about both recent developments and fundamental aspects of IP practice in Europe and the U.S.
In particular, the symposium will address the following important topics for today’s practitioners:
- Obviousness approach of the USPTO
- Inventive step assessment at the EPO and beyond
- Recent PTO developments in the U.S. - news and surprises
- An update from the Unified Patent Court – statistics and selected case law
- U.S. claim construction – always a matter of interpretation
- EPO claim interpretation after G 1/24 and the new referral G 1/26
Presentations will be held in English, and translation from English into Korean will be provided.
Drinks and hors d’oeuvres will be provided at a casual reception following the symposium.
