AIPLA Women In Intellectual Property Networking Dinner

The AIPLA Northern Virginia Women in IP networking dinner hosted by Oblon Spivak McClelland Maier & Neustadt held on May 4, 2011, was, according to all who attended, a great success.  In addition to providing networking opportunities, participants were treated to business owner Liz Davis' experiences and insights about the restaurant industry from a woman's perspective. Liz Davis, owner of The Dairy Godmother in Alexandria, spoke about her journey from pastry chef at various fine dining restaurants, to owner of the community gathering place in Del Ray in Alexandria.  Liz shared her experiences and approaches explaining that “failure was not an option”.  She also told of her own trademark experience about getting a cease and desist letter about her trademark and business name.  She explained that it gave her an opportunity to pick the name "The Dairy Godmother", which she would not have been comfortable using before she proved herself worthy of the title.
