Cristina Lai is a patent agent in the firm’s Electrical and Mechanical Practice Group where she focuses on drafting patent applications and patent prosecution for domestic and international clients. She has experience in patent work in various technologies, including image processing and display, medical devices, artificial intelligence, networking, wireless communications, blockchain, and radar systems.

Prior to joining Oblon, Cristina worked as a patent agent at an IP firm in North Carolina, where she focused on patent prosecution and portfolio strategy for start-ups and technology transfer spinouts. She also has industry experience in pharmaceuticals manufacturing, medical devices, microfluidics, and hardware design.

Her experience includes time at a start-up designing instruments for cell sorting and separation. This work focused on hardware and software development and integrating surface acoustic wave devices into benchtop microfluidics products for medical and scientific use. She has also interned at a large multi-national medical device company in the endoscopy division and as an automation engineer at a manufacturing organization.
