The Northern Virginia AIPLA Women In IP Law Networking Dinner 2012
Featured Speaker: Dr. Florence Haseltine
“A Woman's Perspective: How a Copyright, Patent and Trademark Can Make a Difference”
The AIPLA Northern Virginia Women in IP networking dinner hosted by Oblon Spivak, was, according to all who attended, a great success. In addition to sharing many of her experiences in the academic and business arenas, Dr. Haseltine shared many words of wisdom and experience, including "pay attention to what you pay attention to". Following this advice ensures that we will do what interests us and succeed as a result of that interest and passion. Please see photos below from the event.
Dr. Haseltine is a biophysicist, reproductive endocrinologist, journal editor, novelist, patent holder, and advocate for women’s health. Among other things, Dr. Haseltine urged NIH and Congress to expand heart disease and cancer research to female subjects, efforts that were instrumental in securing and increasing federal funding of breast cancer research in the 1990s. The Kilby Awards Foundation has credited Dr. Haseltine with “quietly changing the course of medical history through her dynamic influence on public policy and funding of medical research to include women in critical clinical trials, saving countless lives in the process.” Dr. Haseltine is a champion of women’s health, and to date, continues to be a visionary for professional females.
