        The Patent Trial and Appeal Board invalidated a handful of claims Friday in a Petroleum Geo-Services patent related to 3-D seismic signal processing, in an inter partes review launched by a unit of oil field services giant Schlumberger Ltd.

        Schlumberger subsidiary WesternGeco LLC showed that claims 1, 4 and 10 of PGS Geophysical AS’ U.S. Patent No. 6,026,059 are invalid as anticipated by the "Gallagher" prior art and that claim 11 is invalid as obvious over the Gallagher and "Frasier" prior art, according to PTAB's final written decision Friday.
