Oblon, Spivak to Argue Three CAFC Cases In One Week

Alexandria, Va. - At a time when patent litigation is greater than ever, attorneys at one intellectual property law firm are busier than usual, arguing three cases before the U.S. Court Of Appeals for the Federal Circuit (CAFC) in just one week. Patent litigators at Oblon, Spivak, McClelland, Maier & Neustadt, P.C., are scheduled to argue these cases during August 4-7. "It is extremely unusual to have so many cases before the Appeals Court that three arguments get scheduled in one week. It truly demonstrates how busy our litigators are and have been. On Monday, August 4, Oblon, Spivak argued on behalf of French steel maker Arcelor's subsidiaries Ugine and Sollac to defend the U.S. District Court in Cincinnati's decision on July 30, 2002, to grant three motions of summary judgment in Arcelor's favor against AK Steel in two separate patent infringement lawsuits involving six patents.

The case is AK Steel v Sollac. The Oblon, Spivak included Stephen Baxter.

On Wednesday, August 6, Richard Kelly argued the appeal of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Tennessee's decision on October 1, 2002 to grant summary judgment of non-infringement against AFG regarding a patent for low E glass.

The case is AFG and Asahi Glass Co., Ltd v Cardinal IG and Anderson Windows. The Oblon, Spivak team includes Richard D. Kelly, Stephen G. Baxter and Andrew M. Ollis.

On Thursday, August 7, Richard Kelly argued on behalf of Net2Phone in defense of the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota's October 31, 2002 decision that Net2Phone did not infringe four of Multi-Tech's patents relating to Internet telephony.

The case is MultiTech v Net2Phone. The Oblon, Spivak team includes Richard D. Kelly and Michael R. Casey.
