Russell Sorber is a patent agent in the Electrical and Mechanical Patent Prosecution practice group where he focuses on drafting patent applications for domestic and international clients. He has more than 20 years engineering expertise in the fields of software, medical devices, e-commerce, and telecommunications. Mr. Sorber’s telecommunication experience spans over 15 years and includes GSM mobile devices, software development, as well as engineering work for EDGE and 5G network components.
Mr. Sorber worked for more than 10 years at a cellular device and network manufacturer where he helped develop telecommunication products including the Multi-Media Message Center, Short Message Service Center (SMSC) and SMS Gateway, which are in use by U.S. telecommunication carriers. While an engineer and a patent agent at the company, Mr. Sorber also served on the company’s network patent evaluation committee and assisted with patent litigation.
His 5G telecommunication engineering experience includes developing feature requirements for 5G gateway devices and for the 5G Broadcast Message Center (BMC), which is currently in use by almost every carrier in North America and which delivers Amber Alerts, weather warnings, and other emergency messages.
Mr. Sorber’s 5G legal experience includes protecting enhancements to the 5G Network Resource Function and protecting 5G network performance enhancements.
