Alexandria, VA – Oblon, McClelland, Maier & Neustadt, LLP, is pleased to announce the election of two new partners- David M. Longo, Ph.D. and Yuki Onoe- effective January 1, 2015.

The diverse backgrounds and technical knowledge of the new partners range from electrical, computer, and mechanical-related technologies to chemicals and pharmaceuticals. Their practices touch all aspects of IP law, including counseling, prosecution, and litigation.

The firm is also pleased to announce the elevation of one new senior attorney- Sameer Gokhale.

New Partners:

David M. Longo, Ph.D. is an attorney in the firm’s Electrical Patent Prosecution group. His legal experience covers all aspects of client counseling, patent portfolio development and management, prosecution, reissue applications, reexamination proceedings, appeals, opinions of counsel, due diligence, pre-litigation counseling, and license negotiations. He works actively with international clients to develop and grow their utility and design patent portfolios. Dr. Longo holds a J.D. from The George Washington University Law School, a Ph.D. and M.S. in Materials Science & Engineering from the University of Virginia and a B.S. in Physics & Philosophy from the University of Scranton.

Yuki Onoe is an attorney in the firm’s Chemical, Pharmaceutical/Medical Devices, and Litigation practice groups. Ms. Onoe prepares and prosecutes U.S. patent applications covering a wide range of technical areas such as semiconductor materials, optical components, pharmaceuticals, plastic packaging materials, battery components, and construction materials. Ms. Onoe’s legal experience covers opinions, strategic counseling and pre-litigation investigations and discovery work in patent litigations. Ms. Onoe holds a J.D. from The John Marshall Law School, a M.S. in Linguistics from Georgetown University and a M.S. and B.S. in Chemistry from Osaka University in Osaka, Japan.
