David R. Wood is a patent agent in the firm’s Electrical and Mechanical practice group.  With over 15 years of experience in patent preparation and prosecution, Mr. Wood delivers expansive insight into advancing innovation through inventive concept visualization and scope broadening abstractions resulting in robust protection of intellectual property and identification of new potential revenue streams for inventors’ products. 

Mr. Wood’s patent experience includes practicing at several DC area law firms as well as at his own firm.  Prior to entering into patent practice, Mr. Wood spent decades in engineering and computer programming, including almost a decade in weather radar, lidar and remote sensing research at Colorado State University.  His experience includes preparing and prosecuting patent applications across a diverse array of electrical and mechanical technologies including analog and digital signal processing techniques, electronic control systems, data acquisition systems, optics and optical systems, radar, telecommunications and networking, computer network security, image processing including motion picture image processing, inkjet and laserjet printing technology, speech recognition, navigation systems, electronic circuit design and autorouting, semiconductor circuit fabrication, atmospheric remote sensing systems, thermal management systems, data analytics, natural language processing, design and implementation of software systems and user interfaces, hand tools, fasteners and other hardware, biocompatible implants, business methods.
