SAMEER GOKHALE is an attorney in the firm's Electrical Patent Prosecution group. He prosecutes patents for a diverse clientele in the electrical and mechanical fields, including printing and copying technology, semiconductors and semiconductor manufacturing, display systems, digital rights management, and personal electronic devices. Additionally, as a wireless industry patent attorney, he has prosecuted patents for wireless communications technologies.

Prior to joining Oblon, Spivak, Mr. Gokhale served as a Patent Examiner in display systems art at the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). During that time, he reviewed patent applications related to liquid crystal display (LCD) drivers, plasma display drivers, and display input devices. He now draws upon this experience to expedite the patent prosecution process for his clients.

Before attending law school, Mr. Gokhale was an engineering consultant at Booz Allen Hamilton in the fields of satellite communications and network integration. His work included evaluating systems and standards for providing network communications and Internet access to deployed military personnel.

Representative Matters

Provided assistance for U.S.-based clients in prosecuting patents in the Japan Patent Office.    

Worked with inventors and drafted patent applications for clients in university research, computer-chip manufacturing, financial systems, and auto manufacturing. 

Provided patentability opinions to a leading auto manufacturer.

Provided research and opinion work related to unique patent prosecution matters, such as issues related to filing a patent application when there is a deceased inventor, and filing continuation-in-part applications.
