Richard L. Allen is a registered mechanical patent lawyer, providing patent prosecution and counsel to both domestic and foreign companies. Mr. Allen’s clients represent many technological fields, including imaging and other medical devices, farm equipment, and consumer and manufacturing devices. In addition to patent prosecution, he also has experience in patent reexamination.
A mechanical engineer by training, prior to joining the firm Mr. Allen worked at Bard Access Systems, first as an engineering intern, focusing on procedural devices in the medical field, and later as a clerk for the division of corporate patent counsel, where he was engaged in drafting patents, reviewing infringement and license issues, and working on other IP portfolio matters. While earning his engineering degree, he designed water purification devices. Later as a law student, Mr. Allen was Senior Editor for the law journal IDEA: The Intellectual Property Review.
