MARC E. BOOKBINDER is a patent agent in the firm’s Electrical and Mechanical Patent Prosecution practice groups. Mr. Bookbinder regularly performs allowed file reviews for clients across all electrical and mechanical areas. He proposes recommendations for post-allowance actions to help the firm’s attorneys improve claims for patenting and better position clients should patent challenges arise.
Prior to joining Oblon, Spivak, Mr. Bookbinder served for 21 years at the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) as both a Quality Reviewer for the entire electrical discipline and as a Quality Assurance Specialist in the communications and computer technologies areas. He spent many years reviewing and analyzing a wide variety of electrical and mechanical patent applications and both developing and communicating requisite technical and legal positions. As a result, he is skilled at uncovering issues related to patentability, practice and procedures.
Also at the USPTO, Mr. Bookbinder worked for 14 years as a Patent Examiner in the comprehensive areas of analog and digital communications. The breadth and depth of his technical expertise can also be attributed, in part, to his earlier work as an electrical engineer where he focused on the areas of RF design and analysis, UHF design and digital logic design.
