ALDO MARTINEZ is a patent procurement attorney in the firm’s Electrical Patent Prosecution group. His practice encompasses all aspects of patent prosecution and related counseling, including client counseling and patent portfolio development, invalidity and non-infringement opinions, and post-grant proceedings.  Mr. Martinez has also drafted and prosecuted patent applications in wireless communications, data networks, biomedical electronics, consumer electronics, semiconductor fabrication, and electronic devices such as LCD, plasma and touch-screen displays.

Prior to joining Oblon, Spivak, Mr. Martinez was a senior hardware engineer at Niles Audio Corporation, which specializes in high-end audio and home theater equipment. While there he was involved in all aspects of product design for audio, video and data distribution including board-level design and troubleshooting, system integration and FCC/UL compliance.  Mr. Martinez also has extensive experience designing power supply, charging and safety circuits for use with Lithium ion batteries, and spearheaded the migration to Lithium ion batteries for Niles Audio’s multi-device remote controls.  He has more than 10 years of industry experience as an electrical engineer, focused on the design of analog and digital circuits applied to the areas of communications, industrial controls, biomedical instrumentation, and consumer electronics.

Involved in the group prosecution of digital media patent applications for a large multinational corporation.

Drafted patent applications in automotive, wireless communication, image processing, medical instruments and video conferencing for several large multinational corporations.

Assisted in reexamination proceedings on patents related to data communication, e-mail forwarding and digital imaging.
