The Patent Trial and Appeal Board this week found that Toyota Motor Corp has proven that most of the claims of a vehicle monitoring patent it challenged in an America Invents Act inter partes review are obvious in light of prior art.

In a final written decision issued Tuesday, the PTAB determined that Toyota sufficiently proved that all but two of the challenged claims of inventor Leroy Hagenbuch’s U.S. Patent Number 8,532,867 are unpatentable over several pieces of prior art.

Toyota Motor Corp is represented by Robert Mattson, John Kern and Eric Schweibenz
