Oblon, Spivak Partner Todd Baker Receives Minority Business Leader Award

Alexandria, VaOblon, Spivak, McClelland, Maier & Neustadt, L.L.P. announces partner Todd Baker has been named as one of the Washington Metropolitan region’s Top 25 Minority Business Leaders for 2011 by the Washington Business Journal. Baker will receive the award on March 25, 2011 during a luncheon sponsored by the publication and will be profiled in a special supplement of the March 25th edition of the Washington Business Journal.

This year’s honorees are business professionals who have demonstrated business success over the past 12 to 18 months, achieved professional accomplishments and milestones, exhibited community leadership and inspired others to achieve.

Baker is the first African-American partner at Oblon, Spivak, which obtains more U.S. patents than any firm in the world, and is the Co-Chair of the firm’s Patent Interferences practice group and a team leader in the Patent Reexamination/Reissue group.

Baker is dedicated to mentoring other minority attorneys and is the Vice-Chair of the firm’s hiring and retention committee. As a result of the committee’s efforts, the number of minority professionals there has grown from 13 to 22, an increase of 69 percent.

Baker is also the Chair of the Diversity Committee for the American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA), which works to increase the number of diverse students that enter into the IP profession.
