Christopher Bullard Appointed Chair of the Committee on Patent and Trademark Office Affairs of the ABA-IPL

Alexandria, Va. – Oblon, Spivak, McClelland, Maier & Neustadt, L.L.P. is pleased to announce that Christopher A. Bullard has been appointed Chair of the Committee on Patent and Trademark Office Affairs (Committee 103) of the ABA Section of Intellectual Property Law (ABA-IPL) for the 2010-2011 ABA year. Mr. Bullard’s term will begin at the conclusion of the ABA Annual Meeting in San Francisco in August.

The scope of this committee includes practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office in patent matters; and the administration of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and its fees and services with relation to patents. The committee also studies and makes recommendations with respect to the Rules of Practice in Patent Cases and procedures in the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office in connection therewith.

Mr. Bullard also will be assuming the position of Intake Editor for Landslide magazine, the ABA-IPL’s magazine forum for discussion of intellectual property issues. Landslide offers analysis, news, and commentary about the law of patents, trademarks, copyright, trade secrets, and related subjects. Mr. Bullard also will be serving on the newly formed ABA-IPL Young Lawyers and Law Students Board.

Mr. Bullard is a patent attorney in the firm's Electrical/Mechanical Practice Group focusing on client counseling, the prosecution of both utility and design patent applications, and ex parte and inter partes patent reexamination proceedings. Mr. Bullard is a highly effective advocate before the United States Patent and Trademark Office who has successfully argued several cases before administrative law judges at the Board of Patent Appeals and Interferences. He has experience advising clients in matters relating to a diversity of technical areas, including automotive technologies, semiconductor processing, medical devices, aerospace technologies and consumer electronics.
